Canadian Heritage is a government department dedicated to fostering Canadian identity, cultural growth, and heritage.
The challenge
Real Love Winnipeg approached us to collaborate with them on the Winnipeg segment of IllumiNATION, a Canadian Heritage TV special celebrating the winter solstice and Canadian arts. With a tight timeline and plenty of logistics to figure out, we got to work promptly.
The solution
We collaborated with three local artists to bring the Winnipeg segment together. First we met up with Sadie-Phoenix Lavoie at The Forks to capture a performance of their spoken word poetry. Next we spent an evening with Jordan Stranger as he prepared three murals that would later serve as the background for a musical performance by Cassidy Mann.
The results
The final segment was aired alongside segments from across Canada during a televised special on the winter solstice of 2022.
